Spend Different.

Imagine a digital platform that makes it easy for consumers to discover amazing black-owned businesses in their city. What should it be called? How should it look and feel? Where do the businesses come from? Who should use it? And why?

Spendefy – a tech startup that merged a growing database of black-owned businesses with an online website and digital strategy to reach new customers.

The Challenge

The team at Spendefy approached us with the task of establishing both their brand, web presence, and marketing materials. In light of the uprising of conscious consumerism and a rising angst against racism with the Black Lives Matter Movement, the Spendefy Team came together with a solution that would address both economics and dignity for Black America. 4THPARK had the privilege of working with Spendefy to awaken possibility by leveraging the power of consumerism for economic and social good.

We created the Spendefy Logo based on the West African symbol, NKONSONKONSON (pronounced “Kon-Son-Kon-Son”), which represents a chain link and the official symbol of unity and human relations.

Inspiring a generation to spend different.

Brand Identity: Website

The Spendefy website was designed to operate as both a search engine and directory that would house hundreds and thousands of black-owned businesses in cities across America. The website needed to be responsive enough for users to search with ease from both their desktop and phone. It also needed to be robust enough for business owners to login and manage their own business listings. We studied more than 30 search engines and business directories to gain insights on how to best position the new Spendefy website to provide users with a platform that would make it easy for them to discover amazing black-owned businesses in their city.

Spendefy bridges the gap that continues to grow between black-owned businesses and consumers by providing a premier online platform that allows consumers to discover amazing black-owned businesses online, where they work, and where they live.

App Design: UI/UX

We designed the user interface for the Spendefy App after creating a user flow board, wireframes, and mockups.

Promotions & Advertisements

We designed several promotional graphics and advertisements to publicize events and awareness campaigns hosted and led by Spendefy.
